First Palin Gaffe?

Sam Stein reports over at Huffington Post that Governor Sarah Palin may have made her first gaffe in policy articulation. As reported by McClatchy:

McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, speaking in Colorado Springs, Colo., said Fannie and Freddie had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, however, aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization.

Not exactly a killer. But when every word you say is apparently being scripted, you aren't going to get a lot of breaks. Especially from the left.

This might be her first gaffe but it won't get a lot of traction. On the bright side, at least for those waiting for the Governor to fall flat on her face, it only took a few days for her to get tripped up in a scripted, teleprompted speech. That is a relatively ominous sign for the McCain campaign.

The media and America let the bar be lowered in 2000 and even in 2004 for a certain person from Texas. I don't think either is going to let the bar get that low this time. Better do some more cramming Governor!
